Ten Reasons To Join the Choir

See the genuine warm and heartfelt comments from the singers in our Northampton based Philharmonic choir that enjoy singing as a pass time, whether its as a musical hobby or you wish to excel and improve your singing ability, is also a lot of fun and a very rewarding activity.

Many of our Choir Members say that joining the choir is one of the best decisions they've ever made. Not only is there a fantastic feeling of inclusive friendship and community within the choir. But also we have a jolly good lot of fun. Our concerts are great events and even our informal practices and 'come and sing events' are great not only for the singing we do but also because it's a great chance to catch up with each other socially. Just listen to what some of our choir members say;

I love singing in this choir because of the variety of music we sing.

There is no better way to leave all your cares behind than to join us on a Tuesday night, take a deep breath and sing.

Singing with the choir gives me the opportunity to sing a wide range of music with like minded people

I love singing with Northampton Philharmonic Choir as I like to learn new pieces and its challenging.

I know that singing with the choir is good for my mental health and gives me a lift every time.

I enjoy singing with this choir because by    concentrating on the music and working together to improve it gives us a collective community spirit and a great feeling of achievement.

Singing with Northampton Philharmonic Choir lifts the soul, improves our breathing, involves meeting like-minded people. Above all we have the opportunity to sing uplifting music encouraged and guided by our conductor (with endless patience) who cares deeply about the quality of our singing. In short - a glance of heaven (assuming there will be loads of singing and praising when/if we get there!)

I love the sense of satisfaction from mastering a tricky section in some of the music we sing. The achievement is incredibly rewarding.

I love singing and socialising with a great group of people. The sense of fellowship and common purpose gives me real pleasure.

The greatest pleasure I get from singing is on those occasions when I am overwhelmed by the emotion I feel inside which comes from some of the music we perform.

So hopefully you can see from the genuine warm and heartfelt comments from the singers in our Northampton based Philharmonic choir that singing as a pass time, whether its as a musical hobby or you wish to excel and improve your singing ability, is also a lot of fun and a very rewarding activity. We also host 'come and sing' events where you can come to try us out and see if we are a good fit for you to become a member, or you might just enjoy informally coming along to sing with us as a one off. Below are some comments from events that people have attended;

I am delighted to support Northampton Philharmonic Choir, which for more than a century has been turning people out to sing for the benefit of themselves and others. As a former chorister I know very well how singing in a choir can be one of the most rewarding of corporate enterprises.

The Reverend Richard Coles is a Church of England priest in the quintessentially English village of Finedon, Northamptonshire, where two of his ancestors were Vicars in the seventeenth century. However, in complete contrast, more than a quarter of a century ago Richard was the instrumentalist half of pop band The Communards, together with Jimmy Somerville.

In 1990, after attending a mass at St Alban's, Richard was suddenly inspired with a new found faith. He returned to Anglicanism in 2001 and then in 2005 was ordained into the Anglican priesthood.
